COMPASS is an initiative of the Capitol Region Partnership. The Partnership was formed in 1995 to provide a permanent forum, enabling member organizations to collaborate, solve problems and create opportunities that enhance the quality of life in the Greater Hartford area.  Participating in the Partnership are: Capital Workforce Partners, Capitol Region Council of Governments, Capitol Region Education Council, Greater Hartford Arts Council, Greater Hartford Transit District, Hartford Consortium for Higher Education, Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, Metropolitan District Commission, MetroHartford Alliance, United Way for the Capital Area and the Citizens Network of the Capital Region.

The goals for COMPASS are to: 

• Build on work that has already been done to identify issues and an action agenda in the three key theme areas listed above;
• Leverage what is already ongoing in the region to address the three key themes;
• Identify promising practices locally and nationally that would advance a community agenda in each of these three areas;
• Point to particular targets of opportunity in each of these three areas for further action;
• Solicit champions for these initiatives; and
• Track and report progress to the community on an annual or every other year basis. 

COMPASS will soon have a website to more fully expand upon this initiative and to report on progress.  Look for a link here in the near future.
