Committees
Capitol Region municipal officials develop policy and set the CRCOG agenda related to Community Development through their participation on the following working committees. These committees provide guidance to the CRCOG Policy Board;
Regional Planning Commission - prepares and updates the Regional Plan of Development. Based on the Regional Plan, the Commission reviews and comments upon changes to zoning map/regulations and proposed subdivisions along municipal boundaries. The Commission also stays informed on local and regional projects and techniques that affect land use. Chaired by Sandra Bobowski, City of Hartford Planning & Zoning Commission. Connecticut River Assembly (CRA) - reviews development proposals along the Connecticut River corridor in Northern Connecticut. The CRA is an independent body for which CRCOG provides staffing to manage the assembly and to conduct technical reviews. The Connecticut River Assembly was established in 1982 (Connecticut General Statutes Chapter 477c). This voluntary compact brings together thirteen Connecticut River communities that share the common goal of protecting and preserving the unique scenic, hydrologic, ecological, agricultural and historical values of the Connecticut River and certain adjacent lands. State statutes provide that municipal legislative bodies make appointments to the CRA for three-year terms, or until a successor is appointed. Chaired by Joseph Smith, Town of Wethersfield (Contact Mary Ellen Kowalewski at x222 or mkowalewski@crcog.org) For meeting information, click here.
