Legislation approved by the State legislation in 2001 established a Transportation Strategy Board (TSB) and with it five Transportation Investment Areas (TIAs). CRCOG is a member of two TIAs: the I-91 Corridor TIA and the I-84 Corridor TIA.
The former chairman of CRCOG's Policy Board, Stephen Cassano, is the RPO representative to the I-91 corridor TIA and Karen Olson, a principal transportation planner at CRCOG, is the alternate. Tom Maziarz, CRCOG's director of transportation planning, is the RPO representative to the I-84 corridor TIA, and Ms. Olson is the alternate. Dr. Norman Garrick is the public representative on the I-91 TIA and Joseph Barber is the I-84 TIA public representative.
Legislation establishing the TIAs required that each TIA submit an initial transportation plan to the Transportation Strategy Board by November 15, 2001. A full TIA corridor plan is due biennially, beginning with November 15, 2002.
