Hartford East Busway (Manchester/Vernon)
The Regional Transit Strategy identified a Hartford to Manchester/Vernon Busway as an important element in a rapid transit system for the Capitol Region. The RTS identified two possible locations for this busway: in the freight rail corridor extending from Union Station in Hartford to Manchester or in the Interstate 84 high occupancy vehicle lanes. The Connecticut Department of Transportation has undertaken a study to examine these two corridors in greater detail, and has recommended a phased in approach to providing busway service on both alignments.
